A monotype is a one-of-a-kind print created by transferring an image from an inked plate onto paper.
Unlike an editioned print, each monotype is unique.

My process begins by rolling ink onto an acrylic plate and working with hand-cut stencils to build the image. I often work in layers, adding color, shape,
and texture as the print develops. The plate is then run through an old mangle washing press that I've converted into a printing press.

What I love most about monotype is its spontaneity. I can respond to what's happening on the plate, change direction, add another layer, or allow
an unexpected mark to become part of the finished piece. No two prints develop quite the same way, and that unpredictability is part of
what keeps mecoming back to the process.
