Most of my prints begin with a photograph. From the photograph, I sketch out a drawing that I transfer to the lino block. After the sketch is transferred to the linoleum, it's time to carve. Once I'm happy with the carving, I make a test print. Mixing colors is one of my favorite parts of the process. I use Caligo Safe Wash Relief Inks, the colors are rich and easy to work with. When I'm happy with the color, I roll out a smooth, even layer of ink onto the block with a brayer, and then I apply a piece of paper on the top. All of my prints are handprinted using a Japanese bamboo barren and a wooden spoon.
Each piece has it's own variations and character.
