Monotype printing is a unique printmaking technique in which the image is painted or inked onto a smooth, non-porous plate. The image is then transferred to paper using a printing press or by hand to create a single, one-of-a-kind original print. Because almost all the ink transfers in one pass, only one fully vibrant print can be created.
This ghost print is the second impression from the same plate. As most of the ink was lifted in the first pass, the image is softer and more delicate, yet just as captivating as the first.
